Contributing Info to Greener One
Do you like to recommend products and tell people about your purchases?
Do you want to help people make better choices?
Do you believe that your purchases – and those of others – can help change the world
for the better?
If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, you would make a great contributor
to Greener One! We give you the tools to help uncover product information and make
it as easy as possible to add it to Greener One.
Are you ready to get started?
Tip #1: Finding Products
There are several ways to find specific products on Greener One:

Type the name (or part of a product name) in the Search box and click Search:

Click Products on the menu bar or browse categories right on the Greener One home page:

Narrow products categories or search results by sub-category, manufacturer, or price:
Tip # 2: Jumping to the Contribution Page
Once you’ve narrowed down to a product, you can jump directly to an add/edit page
to start contributing:
- From search results or a product listing page, click the Contribute button:

- From a product’s details page, click the Contribute button:

- Show Environmental Impact on a product’s page and click Add/Edit Info.

Tip # 3: Understanding Questions
Every environmental question on Greener One has been identified as easy, advanced,
or expert, with different
karma point values associated with them.

Easy Greens: Green info that is easy to check (these questions are worth
3 points)

Advanced Greens: Info that is harder to find out, but worth knowing (these
questions are worth 5 points)
-
Expert Greens: Toxins, certifications, and more! (these questions are worth
10 points)
Each question also explains why you should care about the particular question, providing
information about the environmental impact of respective attribute.

Tip # 4: Finding Information
Greener One provides many tools to help you uncover environmental information about
products. You can find these tools when you click Contribute to add or edit product
info:
- Manufacturer contact information – Greener One is actively building a list
of contact information to allow you to call customer service or general information
lines, or to send an email on your behalf:

- Other Sources of info – Every contribution page lists other online sources
of information where you may be able to find environmental information for the product.

- Resources page – Clicking Resources on the menu bar displays a comprehensive
list of resources used and collected by Greener One.

Tip # 5: Adding Information
Once you gather environmental information about a product, it is a snap to add it
to Greener One! Here’s how to do it in three easy steps:
- Click Contribute.

- Add the information and select the source where you found it.

- Click Submit! Greener One will tally your information and update the product’s Green
Index.
Checking a Product’s Impact
Are you concerned about that the products you buy may harm the environment?

Tip # 1: Searching for Products
There are several ways to find specific products on Greener One:

- Click Products on the menu bar or browse categories right on the Greener One home

- Narrow products categories or search results by sub-category, manufacturer, or price:

- Once you narrow in on the product you are looking for, click its photo, product
name, or See more details to get more detailed environmental information or to read
comments by other users.

Tip # 2: Sort Products to See Where They Rank
If you are viewing products by category, a great way to find out which products
are greener is to sort by Green Index from high to low.
